David Moore
(1951 – 2025)
Founder of
CYCLE Houston
A Legacy of Kindness, Compassion, and Community
David was more than a visionary leader. He was the heart and soul of our mission. His unwavering belief in the power of community and compassion shaped everything we do.
From the beginning, David dedicated himself to building something that would uplift and inspire others. His leadership, generosity, and energy helped CYCLE Houston grow into a force for good, touching the lives of more than 200,000 children who received brand new bicycles through the program.
As we grieve this tremendous loss, we hold on to the values he instilled: kindness, hope, and the belief that every child deserves the chance to succeed. His legacy will live on in every book read, every bike built, and every smile we help create.
David is survived by his children Michelle, Parker, and Penelope. We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Remembering David Moore
In loving memory of David Moore and in honor of his sweet daughter, Penelope Moore. David's passion for service and helping others will continue to be an inspiration to all of us. Through his work, he brought joy to so many children across Houston. He was always up for a good laugh or an deeply intellectual conversation. He leaves a beautiful legacy in Penelope, Parker, and Michelle. We were grateful and blessed to know David. - The Dawon/Nguyen, McEnany, Shaw, Smith, McCain, Hines, Craig, and Ali families.

I still remember the first time I met David at one of the Elves and More bike builds. He was caring, generous, and encouraging people to stay as long as they wanted to help build more bikes. He even personally brought in hamburgers from a nearby fast food restaurant to keep people energized!
David is the reason I became so actively involved as a Core Team Member in CYCLE and continue to support the organization today!

I remember the first time I met David at a December Bike Build at NRG Center. He explained to me why he started CYCLE and I knew then that he was committed to making a postive lasting "impact" on children who are in need of help. I use the word "impact" because when you make an "impact" on someone, especially a child, you change the direction of their life. Making a difference for someone is a nice thing to do, but making an "impact" can last a lifetime. Through David's inspiration and committement, I see the children CYCLE has helped being successful in school, their career and life. I am also sure that they will remember how CYCLE changed the direction of their life and they will be inspired to do the same for others. Just think of the multiplying effect this will have on the world which started from David.
