Spring 2023 Newsletter

Dear friends and supporters of CYCLE Houston,

I hope this letter finds you well and that the new year has started on a positive note for you. As the President of the Board of CYCLE Houston, I am excited to share with you our recent successes and our ongoing efforts to make a meaningful impact in the lives of underserved children in our community.

Despite the challenges of the past two years, we are proud to have provided nearly 5,000 bikes to deserving second graders in 2022, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team and volunteers. In addition to providing bicycles, we worked with 37 schools in 10 school districts, reaching a total of 5,000+ students! Our Annual Bike Build at NRG also saw an incredible turnout, with 700+ individuals and 12 corporations participating to help us achieve our mission. To all of our sponsors and volunteers, I offer my heartfelt thanks for your support and generosity. Your contributions are making a real and lasting difference in the lives of students across Greater Houston.

At CYCLE Houston, we believe that reading is the foundation of learning, and learning is the key to success in life. Sadly, many students in Texas struggle with reading, and this can have a significant impact on their future prospects. This is why we focus on reaching students in Title I schools in the Greater Houston area at a crucial time in their academic journey, in the second grade. By providing them with bicycles as a reward for their hard work in improving their literacy skills, we aim to encourage and motivate these young people, and to help them see the connection between effort and reward.

Our work would not be possible without the help of our amazing Core Team of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to our cause. They are the backbone of our organization, and we are deeply grateful for their tireless efforts. If you are looking to make a difference in the lives of young people in our community, we invite you to join us and become a member of our Core Team or donor. Every contribution, big or small, can help us reach more students and make a greater impact. Together, we can ensure that all young people in our community have the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our cause. We look forward to continuing our work and making a positive impact in the lives of students across Greater Houston.

Sincerely,

Philip Schneidau

President of the Board, CYCLE Houston
